Cyber Briefing Vol. 1 No. 2 Date: August 29, 1995 To: Pro-Family Citizens & Leaders From: Mark Tolf, dasein3619@aol.com Welcome to the second issue of "Cyber Briefing," which will be updated on a frequent basis (meaning, whenever I have the time!). Watch this library for updates! Cyber Briefing keeps you up-to-date on Internet sites that are related to our concerns about the traditional family. Some of the sites represent our concerns about the traditional family, some do not. Sites are listed because of their informational value. You may wish to monitor some sites in order to see what some organizations are doing or publishing. You may even find some of the sites to be humorous. You will have to be the judge. I also want Cyber Briefing to be a forum for you. If you know of an Internet site that would be of interest to others who are concerned about the traditional family and our values, contact me via e-mail. I will put it in Cyber Briefing. There are a wide range of sites that are valuable (health, children, government, culture, etc...) Don't forget one of the most important topics: humor! Get ready for a journey into who-knows-where. Keep in mind the usual caveats about the Internet and the information on it (see the beautiful disclaimers at the end of the document). Sites are not listed in any order. Remember, you are the judge. 1. NPR's (National Public Radio) "Morning Edition" e-mail address (send comments to): morning@npr.org. 2. Family Internet Home Page: http://www.familyinternet.com. An interesting site. 3. National Parenting Information Network: http://ericps.ed.uiuc.edu/npin/res.parents.html. 4. Children's AIDS Network: http://www.ip.net/candii. 5. Children Now: http://www.dnai.com/~children. An advocacy organization for kids. 6. Webgrrls! Women on the Web: http://www.interport.net/~asherman/webgrrls.html. This is not a typo. Find out what a "webgrrl" is and please let me know. 7. Unofficial Rush Limbaugh Home Page: http://www.eskimo.com/~jeremyps/rush. A web page "on loan from God?" 8. PBS (Public Broadcasting): http://www.pbs.org. 9. Adopted Child Home Page: http://www.moscow.com/Resources/Adoption. 10. Queer Resources Directory: http://www.qrd.org/QRD. Good place to monitor for the latest movements by militant homosexuals, etc. Lots of good links to gay organizations, publications, etc... 11. Of the People Foundation: http://www.ini.net/otpf. A group promoting a Parental Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. 12. GospelCom: http://www.gospelcom.net/~ctromp. A site suggested by a reader of Cyber Briefing. He said it has some "good ministries allied" with it. 13. President Clinton Newsgroup: FIDO.WHITEHOUSE. A site suggested by a reader of Cyber Briefing. He said this newsgroup sends out press releases and speech copies of everything President Clinton says. 14. Chuck Farnham's Weird World: http://www.hooked.net/alex/people/chuck/index.html. O.K., this is this month's eye-opener. Last month, it was the Coalition for Positive Sexuality's "Just Say Yes" publication (see Cyber Briefing #1). This site is another reason why parents have to monitor their child's computer activity. These sites get passed along from kid to kid pretty easily. Basically, this site features death and gore . . . using real photos and documents. Very graphic. 15. CyberKids: http://www.woodwind.com/mtlake/CyberKids/CyberKids.html. 16. Family World: http://www.family.com:80. A joint effort of more than 40 regional parents' magazines. Here you can find regional calendars of events, museum programs and other family-oriented activities. There is much, much more here, including links to other family-oriented sites. Try it! 17. Parents Helping Parents: http://www.portal.com/~cbntmkr/php.html. - - -After visiting some of these sites, you will need some time to recover. This issue's resting spot is the BBC Web Server: http://www.bbcnc.org.uk. Travel directly to London, the city of Dickens, Churchill, etc... Learn about the history of this British institution, and how to find them on the short-wave dial. Program schedules for the BBC World Service (short-wave) are also here. - - - For an extra resting spot, I recommend INtv, Television Corporation of Singapore: http://www.technet.sg/cgi-bin/intv-form/5+100. This is just like watching TV in Singapore! The site features the INtv video text service. You can choose from different videotext channels and get news, financial information, classified ads, etc... It's wierd, but you need a break anyway. Keep the faith. I will see you again in the next issue! Notes: Cyber Briefing reports on Internet sites that are of interest to pro-family citizens and leaders. Cyber Briefing lists a wide variety of sites. Some sites share our concerns about traditional families, others do not. Sites are listed for their informational value. URL's, submissions and comments should be sent to Mark Tolf, dasein3619@aol.com. The usual caveats about Internet sites apply here. Remember, some sites are unreliable, unpredictable and undependable. Copyright 1995 Mark A. Tolf
